This battling game is based on the trench warfare of the First World War in Flanders. It features a British army commander who is set with the task of taking trenches from his German enemies. Viewed side-on, the game is designed to appeal to lovers of strategic decision making rather than sheer action and blast-'em-ups.
Gaming Modern Warfare
The advent of trench warfare really altered the way in which armies had traditionally engaged with one another forever. As a game, Trench Assault evokes that specific era of war making when the only means of taking enemy territory was attritional and often costly in terms of men's lives. The game features a number of different characters which you can use in a variety of ways ñ both in attack and defence. These include lowly privates and senior officers. In addition, there are specialist units using flamethrowers, machine guns and even possessing sniper capabilities to help you gain ground and progress through the levels. Other game features of Trench Assault include bunkers, gas attacks and artillery fire. However, the enemy can deploy these resources, as well.
A War Winner?
Rated at Pegi 12 for its violent theme, Trench Assault uses the concept of the First World War conflict but does not really portray its horror thankfully. A pleasant strategic distraction, it is more about managing resources than fighting.
